Wormholes

It's Corona Time ©, so I have a large amount of time to make posts :)

You know that thing in literally all science fiction movies and books? Yeah, the ones that transport you to another dimension and all that? Those are called 'Wormholes' (because calling it an Einstein-Rosen Bridge is a tad dry) and theoretically CAN exist.

Wormholes can be characterized as a tunnel of sorts, that has the ability to join any two points in space (or even two universes) by folding the space-time curvature. Sounds whack, I know. Essentially, two points in space can be joined much like how if you imagine the curvature of space-time to be a piece of paper: if you fold that paper, you can join two points that were initially on opposite sides.

Fig. 1
This possible method of travel would be faster than the speed of light, as light would travel along the entire curvature of space-time, whereas if you were to drop an object through the wormhole, it would reach the other side faster.

How efficient would this method of travel be? Very, but we do not know much about the effects it would have on a human body. Obviously, we don't have the means of conducting trials with wormholes (yet) so it may be a while before this can even be considered as a probable method of space travel. On top of that, we believe they exist only because Einstein said so. We are yet to observe a real-life wormhole, and thus yet to explore faster than light travel at the moment.

Oh, well.
